Reporter: Wang Haizhou is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, a professor of the China Iron and Steel Research Institute Group, director of the China NIL Research Center for Proficiency Testing, director of the Beijing Key Laboratory of Metallic Materials Characterization, a lifetime honorary chairman of the International Iron and Steel Industry Analysis Committee, chairman of the Laboratory Technical Capability Verification Specialized Committee of China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment, member of the China Standardization Expert Committee, and chairman of the National Steel and Alloy Chemical Composition Analysis Standardization Subcommittee.

He is mainly engaged in the study of high-throughput in-situ statistical mapping characterization of material genomic engineering, and the establishment and improvement of the analytical testing systems. And the new concept of the in-situ statistical distribution analysis characterization that he proposed helps to characterize the quantitative representation of the composition and state distribution in the large-scale range of materials; the Metal In-situ Statistical Distribution Analysis Technology invented mainly by him took the second prize of the National Technology Invention Award; he organized the establishment of a high-temperature alloy trace element analysis system with the concentration on solving the problem of low-melting trace element analysis and obtained the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress. In addition, he has organized a series of international inter-laboratory competency activities, and he is the convener of several research projects, including the studies on international standards such as ISO, ICASI and APLAC, proficiency testing and CRM conformity evaluation.
